Hate seeing yourself in photos? You are not alone.

Showing the face behind the business is extremely important when it comes to winning clients’ trust.

You know this, it’s obvious, right? and yet the idea of getting in front of the camera absolutely fills you with dread.

Sound familiar?

I would say that 90% of my clients feel the same way. In fact, I would go as far as to say that I have felt that way too. When I was at college we couldn’t afford to hire models and so most of the time we took it in turns to photograph and then be photographed.

Is that REALLY how I look? But I still feel like I did when I was 18 so I must still look like that, right? That can’t be me - that person has a turkey neck, wrinkles and 2 great big suitcases under their eyes. There must be a mistake.

And yet, when I think back to actually being 18, I would see a photo of myself and I would die a bit inside. I was always self conscious about my teeth and would try desperately not to show them. Isn’t that sad?

In fact, my 18 year old self doesn’t really exist in photos. Nor my 28 yr old self. In fact, it was only when I became interested in photography (well into my 30s) that I realised the importance of being IN the photos, even if it was only for my children to have something to remember me by - morbid but SO important.

I bet you if I saw a photo of my 18 year old self I would love how I looked. I’d be thinking, look at my fresh skin and bright eyes and my size 8 body. And yet, in that moment, I hated myself in photos.

Think about this, do you look at a photo of someone else and think, gosh, look at that saggy skin or they could do with dropping a few pounds… Chances are, you haven’t noticed any of their flaws, in fact, you probably feel a little bit envious of their confidence, self belief and desire to be SEEN.

If you keep waiting for the diet to work, for your skin to glow, to be able to afford the personal trainer, the time will never be right. I promise you will always find a reason NOT to be in the photographs. And that’s crazy. Because you have an awesome message and it deserves to be shared with the world.

Oh, and I know some great makeup artists, stylists and hair dressers so we can be sure to capture the best version of YOU and your wonderful personality.

DO IT.

Get in front of the camera.

Your clients will love you for it and you never know, you might even enjoy it!
