Finley & Grace | Family Photographer, Loughborough

I’m about to spam you with Autumn shoots!! These sessions were timed perfectly for Christmas so I had to sit on the photographs until they had of course been gifted!

I thought we were going to lose Autumn by the time we were booked in for Finley and Grace’s shoot (17th November) but thankfully the lower car park at Beacon Hill is quite sheltered and the woods were still in their full Autumnal glory. Amazingly, I went to the Upper carpark earlier in the same week and the trees were totally bare, the bracken was black and it felt quite bleak. I love that within the same location I can find such a huge contrast in landscape. My perfect day off involves parking in the lower carpark and walking the circumference of Beacon Hill. I start at the bottom so that I get the uphill bit out of the way. If you follow the bridal track you will come across some stunning scenery (and the odd horse, so steer clear if you’re not keen). According to my fitbit it’s 7 miles!

Anyway, you already know how much I love this place… Finley is the same age as Jacob and I met his mum Sara-Jane at one of the many mummy groups that I joined when they were babies. I photographed the family at Abbey Park when Grace was little and it’s wonderful to see how much she and Finley have changed - they are both such a happy pair making this session great fun. I’m pretty sure Finley had been studying the Next catalogue prior to his session because, unprompted, he would just throw me a pose!! so cute.

On the day of the shoot it was low cloud with the occasional break. When the sun did appear the light was so lovely and warm. The result was a fantastic gallery with beautiful light - all helped by the clothing that Sara-Jane had selected (everybody looked great!). Prior to your shoot I send out a guide of what to wear - it takes all of the stress out of selecting outfits.

Grace was a superstar throughout the session. Although after 90 minutes I got the impression that she was done.

Such a cute “fed up” face (last shot of the day). These are often my favourite photographs…haha. Don’t worry, I got a big high five from her after this - we’re still friends!

Here are the highlights of their shoot - you will see that I aim to capture a selection of images; some posed group shots, some relaxed images of you all having fun and some beautiful portraits of the children.

I am taking bookings for February and March - the flower bulbs in my garden already have buds - I think it’s going to be an early spring. Please register your interest here.
