Children and Family Photographer Loughborough, Leicestershire | What to expect...

I find lots of people tell me that they would love to have their family portraits taken but that they are quite daunted by the whole thing.  What do you wear? What if the children misbehave? What if they get hungry and have a meltdown? I never look good in photos...

So I thought I would write this blog just to show what you will experience from the whole process of having an outdoor family portrait session with me.

Once your date has been confirmed I will provide you with a portrait agreement and a guide of what to wear.  "I haven't got a clue what we should all wear" is the question that I get asked the most so I put together a little guide with some handy tips to make the decision process as easy as possible for you.

Before the session takes place I will visit your preferred location and plan out your shoot.  At this time, I am looking for interesting buildings, doorways, wooded areas and tree trunks that would form a great frame for a portrait.

In the 48 hours before the Portrait Session I will keep an eye on the weather - it's very rare that the weather prevents play but if it looks like it's going to be constant rain then we will rearrange  - not many people look good with wet hair - I certainly don't!!

On the day, we will spend 1-2 hours together, with plenty of time for breaks, snacks and changes of clothes (sometimes the little ones will get dirty - it makes for great pictures!).  The session is all about having fun - I will take some posed photographs, some photos of you messing around and some individual portraits of the children.  I often find that clients say they have thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the experience of being photographed (even those who were a little anxious at the outset!).

Following the photo shoot I will select the very best images, removing those with odd expressions and closed eyes (unless intentional) and I will fully hand edit each image.

I will then invite you to a viewing session when we will discuss how you want to display your portraits, you will be able to see and touch the beautiful products that I have to offer and then you'll view a slideshow of your gallery.  You are under no obligation whatsoever - I only want you to buy what you love so there will be no hard sell, just the sound of me ooh-ing and aah-ing…

I will let you know when your portraits are ready to collect.  You will leave me with some beautiful artwork that not only features the most precious people in your world but also a location that is dear to you...
