Did you know that we all have a colour palette that really works for our skintone and colouring?

At the age of 15 I was a bridemaid for my Auntie. It was dress buying day! We went to the bridal gown shop full of excited anticipation. My Auntie had already chosen the dresses and we were there to check sizing. The dresses were peach. I’ve always had extremely fair skin and I was being a bridesmaid with my cousins, one of whom was very dark skinned. We stood side by side and everybody burst out laughing. I looked like I’d died and my cousin looked like she’d been rolling in the mud! There was no way we could go with the peach colour scheme.

My Auntie ended up having very little say in the colours for her wedding - it turned out that pale pink was the only colour that suited us all!

House of Colour have taken this one step further and offers colour analysis. They work really closely with their clients to work out which colours will have them looking radiant and which to avoid like the plague. Kirsty even provides a glasses styling service where she will help you to choose the best frames for your face shape, face size and once again, your colouring. The service is amazing and it’s so much fun!!

I was invited over to Stourbridge to help Kirsty create some stunning imagery for her social media feeds. The brief was to capture some environmental portraits, behind the scenes, Kirsty working with her clients, her clients showing off their wonderful new clothes and Kirsty’s fabulous personality!

Something that struck me was how happy in their own skin her clients all were.

9 times out of 10 when I work with women they will mention how much they dislike being in front of the camera. Not these ladies - we had a blast! I swear they stood so tall and exuded confidence. Throughout the shoot I had “here come the girls!” playing in my head on repeat.

The shoot took place in 2 locations - at Kirsty’s beautiful home and at the Wharf in Stourbridge which had a very peaky blinders feel to it.

By the way, if you are one of those women (like me) that dislike being photographed - I have lots of tricks and tools to help you to relax.

I can’t wait to see Kirsty using her images on Instragram - her feed is going to be very colourful indeed!! Check it out here
